Eco Group at St Alkmund's

“Care for the environment is, fundamentally, a spiritual issue.

God created a world of great beauty, intricacy, and diversity. To fail to appreciate it, to waste its bounty or to destroy it is not only to deprive future generations of its goodness, it is also to abuse our God given position as stewards of creation.

The present climate crisis comes as a result of generations of human greed, selfishness and thoughtlessness. Whilst we recognise how desperate things are, including our own responsibility for it, we do not lose heart.

Our hope is for the renewal of all things. God sets before us the promise of a renewed earth.

This is much bigger than the salvation of individuals. The process of renewal has already begun with the resurrection of Jesus and we are called to be part of it.”
